Tropical Breakfast Muffins
Another prime example of… I’ll bake just about anything you request.  Including things with yucky coconut!  {Again, feel free to make any requests!}  This muffin turned out quite moist and I’d try it again, but this time without the yucky coconut ;) I was searching and searching for a muffin recipe with the main ingredients being pineapple and coconut, but even foodgawker was...

Baking Muffins - Who Am I?
For those of you who may not know, I have a separate baking blog that I don’t update nearly enough.  Recently after attending the blogging class in Stockton I’ve been considering just melding that blog with this one.  Alejandro talked about how blogs are the central hub of your brand so it makes sense that two blogs are only more confusing.  I want you to be able to find me easily and in one...

Peanut Butter Cup Stuffed Cookies
A friend of a friend very generously moved the content of my blog from tumblr to wordpress for me recently.  For FREE.  I obviously couldn’t let that kindness go unrewarded and luckily for me, this was a tech genius with a B-I-G sweet tooth.  My wifey has asked his wife if he’s part elf because he knows how to indulge in all sweets that come across his desk. Haha! Saturday night, with the...

Birthday Cupcakes for the Boy
My honey turned 32 last week so when I came down to his office for lunch I surprised him and his coworkers with his favorite cupcake!  Yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting. Mr. Goddard works in a big building downtown where I have to check in at the lobby with security.  I felt quite official! Yellow Butter Cake {via Mangio da Sola} Ingredients 6 oz (3/4 cup or 1 1/2 sticks)...

3rd Times a Charm!
I have posted this pie in the past, twice in fact.  With no success either time I never attached the recipe.  I don’t know why because I posted pictures of mushy pie that wouldn’t set.  Not that it was the fault of the original baker.  It was this girl right here who seemed to temporarily become incapable of reading a recipe.  I mean there’s a BIG difference between 4 teaspoons...

A STUFFED Cookie? The more calories the better!
When did stuffed cookies become all the rage on the blogs?  If it weren’t for my friend and coworker Diana, I would be walking around clueless right now! Diana brought chocolate chip cookies stuffed with Reese’s peanut butter cups in to work, but since I’ve never been a huge PB fan *gasp* I wasn’t really sold on the idea of stuffed.  That was until I came across Picky...

If you were to ask me the difference between what makes a yellow cake and a vanilla cake I would guess it has something to do with eggs.  Other than that I don’t know… What I do know is that these cakes are delicious and moist!   After having a yellow cupcake with chocolate ganache last year in Napa at the famed Dean & DeLuca Market I went on a quest to make my own.  That desire...

I first had these heavenly cakes at my friend Alice’s engagement party several months ago.  They had a whole table of homemade treats and for a sweets crazy girl like me it was so difficult to decide what to eat first.  I will admit that these did not make the first cup, but when I realized that these were made by my friend Lindsey I absolutely had to try them!  I almost wish I...

I have never been a fan of carrot cake so this is only the second time I’ve baked it.  It has been years and I wasn’t able to find my old recipe so after hunting around foodgawker, I decided on this recipe, mostly because it looked SO moist in the photos. Carrot cake seems to be one of those recipes similar to red velvet.  It’s been around for years and everyone has their...

Don’t let the word pumpkin deter you for two reasons. 1) I don’t like pumpkin pie, but these are delicious. 2) The pumpkin is such a light flavor that it could be considered more of a spice cake. Definitely worth making outside of the turkey holiday. I actually found this recipe several years ago in Domino Magazine. I was in a complete panic when I couldn’t find the recipe...

Adventures in Cinnamon & Maple: A Breakfast...
Last Thursday I was sitting in the office with my favorite manager printing recipes.  I was debating what to try that night.  Actually, I had already decided to try some tomato soup cupcakes. I know they sound gross, but I can understand the thought behind it. They look really moist! Okay, okay, but this isn’t about the cupcakes I didn’t make.  Haha!  So as I was sitting in there...

Cup[cake] o' Joe
I have a love/hate relationship with the site foodgawker.  Their site is so easy to use, but I hate that they’ve declined every submission I’ve entered so far. Ggrrrr!!  I guess I need to step it up and get myself a better camera.  In the interest of great baking I have continued to use the site.  For you I am looking past my irritations because the benefits outweigh my own ego....

Cupcake Inspection: American Cupcake
My sister who lives in San Francisco sent me this photo back in April.  This isn’t unusual because pretty much anyone who knows me sends me cupcake related stuff whenever they come across it.  I have friends that rip out recipes, family members sending me articles about the cupcake trends etc. etc. No complaints. I looked up there site immediately and despite ‘under...

On my shopping list:
I have 5 or 6 of the cup-a-cake containers, but I just saw these today when I was out today.  For $3.95 it might be worth checking out.  Really cute, but I don’t know how well it will keep the cupcake from moving around.  Has anyone used these before?

S'mores on a Stick
Cutest, cheapest and most adorable party dessert EVER!  I saw this on TasteSpotting and if you’re not familiar, then you need to check it out now!  It is a visual overload of all things yummy.  I love how you can just scan through pages of images of food. It can be narrowed through the search bar, but for those of us visual people it’s a quick way to find a recipe. I made these...

Cupcake Inspection: Mrs. DeLish's Cupcake Boutique
I was in Monterey last weekend for my annual trip with my sisters and Dad.  Anytime I am out of town I look for local cupcakeries, but being that this was my third year I knew there was none close by. Or so I thought! On our way to dinner Saturday night I just happened to spot this little gem! Unfortunately, it was very late in the evening and there were only about 11 cupcakes left.  Only...

No-Bake Strawberry Icebox Cake
On the rare occasions I have to cook I’m always searching for a recipe that is easy, but appears that you’ve slaved for hours.  When I bake I never really mind spending endless time in the kitchen.  About the only thing that intimidates me in the bakery is yeast. Otherwise I’ll take on just about anything. There are times when I just come across a sweets recipe that is easy and...

The Cupcake Trend Coming to An End?? →
What’s funny is I’ve never tried or be “into” the 6 other trends they listed.  Although the chipotle trend does make me laugh a little, it’s good, but a trend?

Cupcake Inspection: Teacake Bake Shop
I’ve been hunting out cupcakerys to taste test for the last couple years.  From Seattle to Southern California.  It was always my intention to share my reviews on here with you, I’ve even been taking pictures!  Just never quite got around to putting pen to paper as they say. I was just in San Francisco, but made the stop at Teacake on the way home in Emeryville.  My Dad had gotten...

Cupcake 32: Key Lime
If you’re a big fan of cupcakes and you scour the blogs like me then you’ve probably come across Ming’s site.  I love how clean looking her site is.  It really makes me want to start numbering my cupcakes too or something equally clever.   Out of all her gorgeous cupcakes I was drawn to the key lime.  I usually prefer lime to lemon and I had key lime juice in the fridge from...

Just Discovered: Food2
My Mom emailed me this morning about this up and coming blog that’s supposed to be better than Food Network. *gasp*  I see that they’re boasting over 506 cupcake recipes so it might just be worth checking out ;)   What I was initially drawn to was their Challenges section.  The featured challenge right now is the ‘Mexican Standoff’.  Who doesn’t love mexican food?!...

A Present from The Green Mountain State
My beautiful friend Nicolina is back in California this month for a visit!  I bet you can’t guess where she’s visiting from can you?  It was so nice of her to bring me a little gift, but now I need all of your help.  I’m looking for suggestions or recipes of yummy ways to use this gift.  Help! *UPDATE* I decided to check TasteSpotting for some ideas and once I sifted through...

The Perfect Chocolate Chip Cookie This recipes come from Martha Stewart and I’d have to agree that they are near perfect. They make a very large cookie which for me, a large cookie is a superior cookie :) Like MS describes these cookies are crispy on the outside and softer in the middle.  I think something that makes them so great is the long time whipping the batter.  I’ve never...

Perfect Party {Cup}Cake: Dorie Greenspan
I have already told you this story before and before and before.  Basically, I’m on a quest for the perfect vanilla cupcake.  My top runner is Amy Sedaris’ cupcake, but I’d have to say this takes a close second.   Having been blogging, tweeting and baking for a couple of years now I see the name Dorie Greenspan floating ALL OVER the place.  I mean have you heard of Tuesdays...
